Nichrome wire mesh is a special alloy mesh with excellent high-temperature resistance. It is mainly composed of different proportions of nickel and chromium, and also contains some other trace elements.
The main characteristics of nickel-chromium alloy wire mesh are high-temperature resistance, high resistance, and corrosion resistance. The higher the chromium content, the better the high-temperature resistance, and the nickel content affects the corrosion resistance.
 
The nichrome wire mesh is also non-magnetic, and its surface also undergoes an oxidation reaction to generate a protective layer of chromium oxide, which can protect the metal under the oxide layer from burning or cracking and can prevent further corrosion. Stable operation is usually maintained in the temperature range of 1652 ℉ (900 ℃) to 2200 ℉ (1200 ℃). Coupled with the characteristics of high resistance and low resistance temperature coefficient, it is very suitable for resistors used at high operating temperatures.
 
Nickel-chromium alloy, with a small silicon (1.25%) addition, originally designed as a high-performance electrical resistance alloy.
Nichrome wire mesh is divided into various grades according to different nickel-chromium composition ratios. Including Nichrome 80-20 (Cr20Ni80), Nichrome 60-15 (Cr15Ni60) and Nichrome 35-20 (Cr20Ni35). Among them, 80-20 nickel-chromium alloy mesh has the best performance and the most widely used, and its total content of nickel and chromium accounts for more than 98%.
